Most of my projects are a result of either opportunity, or necessity. Since not even my active imagination can bring a sporterized SKS under the category of necessity, I was forced to wait for an opportunity, and wait, and wait. Finally I came across the perfect candidate, a neglected Chinese barreled receiver (complete) with the desirable paratrooper barrel (16.5").

My approach to this project is fairly minimalist. I purposely chose to avoid space age fiberglass stocks and wiz bang scope mounts in favor of creating a civilized SKS. The majority of the work focused on taming the trigger pull.
