SKS Trigger - reassembly

Putting the trigger assembly back together is basically the reverse of the steps involved in taking it apart.

Reinstall the safety

To install the trigger and safety spring it is necessary to compress the spring. Start the pin in the hole and set the trigger and safety spring in place (safety off). Then use a pair of vise grips (pad jaws with leather strips) and the shank of a drill bit to squeeze the spring below the path of the pin, then tap the pin on in.

After you have installed the trigger and safety catch spring, install the trigger bar.

Install the disconnector and tap in the disconnector hinge pin. Replace the disconnector spring.

Raise the disconnector and install the rebound disconnector by squeezing it together placing it into the trigger guard (again the bullet is just to hold the disconnector up for the photo)

Compress the hammer spring by hand, again, this will take some effort, and drop it into its retaining slots.

Reinstall the sear, latch / sear spring and mag cover latch. Depress the mag cover latch and slide in the latch stop pin.

That is all there is too it.

I prefer to lubricate the trigger assembly with good quality oils only. Grease tends to attract dirt and create sludge over time and should only be used in places where it can be cleaned away and reapplied regulary. Unless you are a glutton for punishment, an SKS trigger is not the place for grease.

Reassemble the rest of the rifle as usual and function test, especially the safety.
